Abstract:
Accelerator driven subcritical systems are considered as one of the high-efficiency transmutation devices for the handling of high-level radioactive wastes. An industrial-scale accelerator driven minor actinide (MA) burner system was proposed. The lead-bismuth eutectic alloy was chosen as the coolant and the spallation target material, and the metallic dispersion fuel was adopted to adapt for high burnup. The whole core uses three fuel zone loading scheme with the thermal power of 800 MWt and the cycle length of 600 EFPD (effective full power day). It is indicated that the transmutation rate of MA can be achieved as high as 328.8 kg/a. © 2015, Atomic Energy Press. All right reserved.
