Abstract:

The magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of polycrystalline alloys Tb1-xGdxFe2 (0 <= x <= 1) have been investigated. The curie temperature of Tb1-xGdxFe2 increases while room temperature saturation magnitization Ms decreases monotonously with increasing Gd concentration. Furthermore the magnetostriction coefficient lambda(111) decrease as Gd content increases for Tb1-xGdxFe2 compounds. The decreasing of anisotropy results in small increase in the magnetostriction at low magnetic fields for Tb0.2Gd0.8Fe2.
