Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the biocompatibility of Sr-containing calcium phosphate cement series [SrHPO4/Ca4 (PO4) 2O/CaHPO4]. Methods: A series tests, including acute systemic toxicity test, pyrogen test, hemolysis test, cytotoxicity test and in vitro biological behavior of osteoblasts, were designed to evaluate the cytobiology of the material. Results: Sr-containing calcium phosphate cement had excellent biocompatibility and all of the biological evaluation tests were up to the standard. Pyrogen test, hemolysis test and ALP value of Sr-containing calcium phosphate cement behavior had non-linear relationships with the Sr-doped content. Conclusion: Sr-containing calcium phosphate cement series are good in biocompatibility and can be widely used in tissue engineering research.
